A vacuum infusion process (VIP) uses vacuum pressure to drive resin into a laminate. Materials are laid dry into the mould and the vacuum is applied before resin is introduced via strategically placed resin feeder lines.
Advantages:
- Compared to hand lay-up, the parts are stronger, lighter, and cheaper to produce, and quality control is considerably easier
- Less labour intensive
Disadvantage:
- Materials and consumables can be expensive
